Discourses, Modes, Media and Meaning in an Era of Pandemic
Late in December 2019, the world first learnt about the outbreak of a_x000D_<br /> cluster of viral pneumonia cases in Wuhan Province, China. Soon after,_x000D_<br /> on 9 January 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that_x000D_<br /> the Chinese authorities had identified a novel coronavirus as the cause_x000D_<br /> _x000D_<br /> of these cases. The virus spread rapidly across the globe, and the out-_x000D_<br /> break of the initially unnamed disease, which eventually became known_x000D_<br /> _x000D_<br /> as COVID-19, was upgraded to a pandemic on 11 March 2020 (World_x000D_<br /> Health Organization, 2020). No country was spared, and all aspects of_x000D_<br /> everyday life have been upended by the unfolding of the pandemic.
